the cursed lantern intrusting story
🕯️ The Cursed Lantern
1. The Old Village
Far away in the mountains stood a forgotten village named Dawnhollow. The people there lived in fear, for strange shadows haunted their nights. No one walked outside after sunset. But in the middle of the village stood a small shop owned by Elyas, an orphan boy who repaired broken lamps and lanterns.
Elyas was different — while others feared the dark, he found comfort in it. “Darkness only hides what we don’t understand,” he often said.
2. The Strange Gift
That night, when Elyas lit the lantern, its flame burned blue instead of yellow. It flickered strangely, casting not one but two shadows of everything — one normal, one twisted.
3. The Whispering Flame
As nights passed, Elyas realized the lantern could speak. Whenever he was alone, he heard faint whispers:
"I can show you secrets. I can give you power. But every truth has a price."
Curiosity won over fear. He asked, “What secret do you hold?”
The flame grew stronger, showing him hidden treasures buried beneath the ground. Soon, Elyas became rich. The villagers respected him, but envy also grew.
4. The Curse Awakens
One night, the lantern showed Elyas a terrible vision: the village swallowed by shadows, every home burned, every child crying. On the lantern’s glass, words appeared in glowing letters:
"To save them, you must pay with what you love most."
Elyas froze. He had no family, no gold that mattered — only the village itself
5. The Final Night
A storm struck Dawnhollow. Black creatures rose from the shadows, screaming with hollow voices. The villagers panicked, running to Elyas. “You have the lantern — save us!” they cried.
Elyas lifted the cursed lantern high. Its flame roared, brighter than the moon. The creatures shrieked as light burned them. But the whispers returned:
"Your life, Elyas. Only your life can seal them forever."
Elyas smiled sadly. “If darkness must have me, so be it.” With those words, he stepped into the flame. His body vanished, but the shadows dissolved like smoke.
6. A Silent Legacy
When dawn came, the village was safe. The lantern lay in the center of the square, cold and empty. No one dared to touch it. The villagers built a stone monument for Elyas and swore to remember his sacrifice.
They say the lantern still lies hidden in the ruins of Dawnhollow. Some believe it waits for another keeper. Others whisper that Elyas’s spirit lives inside, guiding those brave enough to carry the cursed flame.
